STACKED PLANKS & STACKED STONE IS WHERE IT'S AT.

Walls & Fireplaces in St. Louis Metro Area

If you’re looking to add the perfect mix of rustic and modern style to your home, stacked stone can achieve it. Whether it’s a fireplace, TV surround, wine bar or basement wall, stacked stone will add warmth and uniqueness to any space. Rather than using full pieces of stone, we install a stone veneer which has the same look but is easier to mount on wall panels. After you choose the stone, we put hardy board up and use an ultra-strong mortar to put it in place.

Choosing Your Stone

We can recommend stone veneer retailers who have beautiful products in stock to fit your budget. Depending on your décor, you may choose warm shades of tans and grays or lighter colors to brighten your room. For a polished look, consider quartzite or granite, while softer stones are better for a more natural look. We will recommend sealing stacked stone around a fireplace or in a kitchen to prevent soot or grease from making their way into the porous texture. It won’t change the appearance of the stone, but will repel dirt and make them easier to clean.

Mind the gaps.
Uneven edges on stone panels can cause gaps to form, so we sand any edges that aren’t perfectly straight before installation. We also check to make sure the surface is even before we begin since an uneven surface can also cause gaps.
The Natural look.
For the rugged look of stacked stone, pieces that are the same-length should not line up perfectly at the corners. We make sure all the pieces are randomly cut and stacked unevenly to achieve a natural appearance.
Proper measuring.
You never want a piece to be so long that it extends past the corner, or so short that it exposes the wall beneath. This is why we carefully measure each piece as we go instead of cutting several the same length.
No slip stones.
Without the right mortar, stones will not adhere as quickly as they should and will eventually slip out of place. We use high-bond mortar that holds stones in place almost instantly for long-lasting results.
