Tile Flooring in St. Louis Metro Area

Whether you choose porcelain or ceramic tiles, you will love your allergen-free, easy to clean, scratch-resistant, and liquid-resistant new flooring. It’s perfect for mudrooms, kitchens and bathrooms, and we can even install a heated floor system to keep your feet warm! There are a few differences between the two types of tile, and we will discuss these with you as you make your flooring selection.

Strength.
Porcelain is harder, so it’s usually better if you’re looking for commercial flooring since it isn’t likely to chip with heavy impact. For residential homes, both ceramic and porcelain are strong enough for everyday wear.
UU
Uniformity.
Porcelain is made of uniform clay all the way through, so if it does happen to chip, it’s not very noticeable. Ceramic is glazed with a different color on top, so you’re more likely to notice cracks or chips.
Design versatility.
Some ceramic tiles have a textured surface for visual depth and dimension, but you will find many colors, shapes, and sizes in both flooring materials. We’ve laid incredibly unique designs including herringbone patterns, medallions, wood-looking 4-foot planks and more. We’ll be happy to discuss design options in detail to help you choose the best products for your project.

When it Comes to Flooring Tiles, Don’t be Afraid to Go Big!

Many people think that a small bathroom shouldn’t have large tiles, but the truth is that larger tiles actually make the room look bigger when grout blends in with the tile. This is because our brains view an uninterrupted field as larger than one containing contrasting colors. We’ve installed many master bathroom floors using large format tiles, and they’ve turned out absolutely beautiful.

What Happens During the Tile Flooring Process?

MJ Flooring stays on top of the latest tile design trends and will first sit down with you to discuss a variety of layout options. If you don’t have a favorite tile supplier, we can recommend several in the area whom we know can offer you the highest-quality products for the best price. We can also help facilitate delivery of the tiles if needed.

STEP 01.

Since ceramic and porcelain tiles must be installed directly on level backer board, plywood or concrete, we will begin your project by pulling up existing flooring and cleaning up the area for a fresh start (this is all included in our installation price!)

STEP 02.

We will then lay out the tiles to carefully assess how they will look, cut tiles to fit along walls and corners, and use waterproof adhesive to adhere them to the floor.

STEP 03.

Finally, we will place grout between the tiles, clean off any residue, and then seal the grout. We promise to leave your project area even cleaner than it was when we arrived! And as always, if any problems occur with your tile flooring within the first year, we will come back and fix it for free!
